SuperPro TRC0001 – Roll Control Roll Center and Bump Steer Correction Kit

This kit includes a pair of SuperPro ‘Roll Control’ camber adjusting/roll center correcting ball joints and tie-rod ends for the Mitsubishi Evolution 7, 8 and 9.

Why would I need a set of these?

A number of reasons;

One of the first things enthusiasts replace as they modify their car are the springs and dampers – either with a complete coilover kit, or new struts and springs to sharpen the responses and reduce the ride height and center of gravity. When doing so you may get all of your desired improvements, but you also introduce some problems. Your vehicle is designed by the manufacturer to function and perform properly at the stock ride height in most cases. In the case of the Mitsubishi Evo 8 and 9 the Evo models actually retain the roll center geometry of the base model Lancer on which it is based – so even at the stock ride height the car has a compromised roll center. When lowered; incorrect roll center geometry is introduced. While higher spring rates and stiffer damper valving may serve to quicken responses, lowering the car will actually introduce and exaggerated roll moment because the roll center has been altered.

This kit serves to correct the roll center when the vehicle has been lowered – an improvement you’ll feel immediately in transitions and off-center steering inputs.

We recommend installing this at the same time you alter your suspension as it may significantly impact your sway bar preference; and in the case of the Evo 8 and 9 will even make a substantial improvement on an otherwise stock car. Many people address the exaggerated roll with massive sway bars that will certainly reduce body roll, but are not addressing the root cause and correcting the geometry shortcoming that is causing the increased roll they are attempting to correct.

The TRC0001 also serves to reduce bump-steer, enhancing control, feedback and grip – your tires are the only component on your car that directly contacts the pavement – and this kit helps you maximize their grip.
